Milwaukee's entry, from Mayor Tom Barrett, is called  HOME GR/OWN : Idea Description: "In targeted HOME GR/OWN Zones, engaged, empowered, and enabled residents repurpose foreclosed houses and vacant lots into abundant healthy food assets, yielding healthier, safer, revitalized neighborhoods, and greater economic opportunities."

Save Your Relationship Save A Pet - Locker's Florist Fundraising ForMADACC

That day is coming in just over a week, the day your entire relationship could be judged on your actions - Valentine's Day. As men what we do on February 14th can make or break our happiness for weeks or months, so we have to make the right choice of what to do or not do. Luckily there is one sure fire way to five a good gift - give one that means something. That may sound harder than it is, of course it should mean something to the other person, but as long as it has  meaning  it will be sure to pluck the strings of their heart.

Great Play: NBA Player Supports Marriage Equality - For His Two Moms

Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried recently appeared in a video released by One Colorado,  an LGBT rights group based in Colorado. Seated between his birth mother and her partner - his second mom - he supports marriage equality for others like them. "I support civil union, because it gives people, gays and lesbians, the right to make decisions on their own if they want to get married and let them choose who they want to be with," he said. "Nobody can ever tell me I can’t have two mothers, because I really do."

Alaskan Brewing Co. Makes Beer Powered Beer

Following the Well-Met maxim of  'Social.Responsibility ', the  Alaskan Brewing Company  is making green beer, and I don't mean in color like the shite people swill for St. Patrick's Day. In a shrewd move with economic and ecological ramifications, they are now operating with an alternate fuel source: beer. More specifically, they are using the wet grain known as “spent grain,” left over from the brewing process, as the sole fuel source for their new steam boiler. Alaskan is the first craft brewery in the world to use this brewing by-product in this way, reducing the company’s fuel oil consumption in brewhouse operations by 60-70 percent. “We have the unique honor of brewing craft beer in this stunning and remote place,” explains Alaskan Brewing Co-founder Geoff Larson. “But in order to grow as a small business here in Alaska and continue having a positive effect on our community, we have to take special efforts to look beyond the traditional to more innovative wa

Well-Met Code: Act For Now, Not Later

When I first I had the idea for this article it was to be about my philosophy that we should take action on how it affects this life and not the next. I was all set to call it simply 'Act For Now, Not Later' but then I realized I had written something akin to that already - in the Well-Met Code . It dawned on me that since I came up with the code I haven't written much about it or even referenced it that much other than  using it's Virtues as categories for posts. Seeing as they play an important role in how I look at what I create here at Well-Met, I should expand on them. So I will start here with the code in general and over the next weeks highlight each of the four virtues separately. The roots of this started today with a social media platform where I saw a quote by Mae West (okay she's a woman and I normally only quote men here, but wait for it): "You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough."

exact¢hange January Report

At the beginning of the year I committed to a program I am calling  exact¢hange , inspired by my  Can Change Change The World  post where I pondered what could happen if we did a personal 'round-up' type program where we rounded up all purchases to the nearest dollar and donated that money to charity. I just checked my January transactions online and if I round up each amount of change to a full dollar I came up with $17.15. That would extrapolate to just over $200 for the year if each month is about the same.
