Support Radio Milwaukee During Fall Fund Drive

This is some of the swag you get when you donate. Wow, the days seem to go faster and faster. It seems only yesterday we talked about supporting RadioMilwaukee 6 months ago . Well, it's that time again. Twice a year 88.9 RadioMilwaukee holds a fund drive to stay on the air. As an independent, non-profit, listener supported radio station they need Milwaukeeans to give. I know what you are thinking. Its just a radio station - why should I give? What makes it worthy of the support of a Greater Milwaukee Man? I am glad you asked.

November Milwaukee Food For Thought Dinner Honors Vets

Every quarter, Milwaukee chefs organize a special dinner called Milwaukee Food For Thought that raises funds for a charity chosen for that meal. This quarter, on November 11, that charity is very much a Great Man's choice and apropos for the date - honoring Vets on Veteran's Day. On Monday, November 11, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM,  Multiple Milwaukee chefs join with the chefs of Milwaukee Art Museum to provide you with an "Art Americana" themed six course wine dinner!  All proceeds to go to Veterans For Peace Milwaukee - Ending Veterans Homelessness and Promoting Peace.

Toss Your Yucks And See The Bucks

Score Free Bucks Tickets at the State Fair Park Household Hazardous Waste Collection (For Milwaukee County Residents Only). Ten randomly chosen customers will receive a pair of tickets to the Milwaukee Bucks 2013 regular season home opener just by dropping off unused household chemicals this Friday and Saturday at State Fair Park. Five pairs of tickets will be given away Friday and five on Saturday. Any Milwaukee County resident dropping off compact fluorescent light bulbs, used motor oil, rechargeable batteries and many more approved items at State Fair Park is eligible to win.

Making A Spectacle On World Sight Day

Today is 10/10, half of 20/20 (OK mathematically it's the same), so it's the perfect day for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to promote a day of awareness of vision impairment through   World Sight Day . After two years without any global theme, this year IAPB has decided – on popular demand – to revisit the global theme idea. 2013 is an important year, as it will mark the launch of a new WHO Action Plan on the prevention of avoidable blindness and visual impairment 2014-19. In keeping with the main thrust of this new Action Plan, the theme for World Sight Day 2013 is: Universal Eye Health .

Movember Is On The Horizon

It may only  be October 1st, but that doesn't mean we can't start looking a month ahead towards Movember . During November each year, during what is Pancreatic Cancer month, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches on men's faces around the world. Through the power of the Mo, vital funds and awareness are raised to combat prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges. For the past few years, Miwaukee has embraced the Movember movement and been at its forefront in the US with various activities that Greater Milwaukee Men as supported. While we like to see new and varied activities, this year you can help raise funds with the standard run in addition to the plethora of activities that will be planned. The Mo Run Milwauke  will take place November 10th and their 2013 national charity is Movember.
