Toss Your Yucks And See The Bucks

Score Free Bucks Tickets at the State Fair Park Household Hazardous Waste Collection (For Milwaukee County Residents Only). Ten randomly chosen customers will receive a pair of tickets to the Milwaukee Bucks 2013 regular season home opener just by dropping off unused household chemicals this Friday and Saturday at State Fair Park. Five pairs of tickets will be given away Friday and five on Saturday.

Any Milwaukee County resident dropping off compact fluorescent light bulbs, used motor oil, rechargeable batteries and many more approved items at State Fair Park is eligible to win.

The Bucks ticket giveaway will not be available at the Franklin, Menomonee Falls or Milwaukee (38th  and Lincoln St.) collection facilities.  There’s no charge to visit a collection site and you don’t even have to get out of your car to safely dispose items with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s (MMSD) Household Hazardous Waste Program. We’ve kept more than 14 million pounds of hazardous waste out of the environment since the program started in 1997.

The State Fair mobile collection will be held at Gate 8, just off South 76th Street from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on October 11 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 12.

Visit www.mmsd.com/dukes for a list of things you can and cannot drop off, locations, and hours.

Make Men's Health Month About You

The month of November is (one of the) Men's Health Month(s), popularized by the Movember movement. (June is another recognized annual event but since it is November now, November it is.) It's a great foundation, it has been successful and is highly rated for its impact. But, one thing I see with the movement is that while they speak about men's health to the participants, I feel the participants themselves promote it outwardly rather than inward, at them. I personally fell victim to that selfsame issue, but no longer. As of this November, I am taking care of myself.
