Two MKE events use baseball to fulfill kids' dreams
Though it may not seem like it here in Milwaukee, Spring Training is almost over and time to get the real season started for MLB. Seemingly in anticipation of the start of the season, two charitable events this weekend are baseball-focused:

3/8 Grand Slam Charity Jam Ã¢
March 8, 2014 5:00 p.m. Kapco, Inc., and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Robin Yount announce the fourth annual  Grand Slam Charity Jam.  The fundraising event to benefit Camp Hometown Heroes will be  held on Saturday, March 8, from 5:00­p.m.-11:15 p.m. at Potawatomi Bingo Casino. The evening begins with a VIP and celebrity dinner party in Potawatomi’s Expo Center. Funds raised will benefit Camp Hometown Heroes, a free national weeklong summer camp  hosted in Wisconsin for children who’ve lost a loved one who served in the U.S. military. 3/8 Monte Carlo Night for Rockhounds @ Big Dogs Sports Grill Ã¢, ¢
March 8, 2014 6:00 p.m. Great benefit, Monte Carlo Games, Auction, Silent Auction, Prizes, Beer & Food. DJ music. Money raised benefits the renovation of the 5 baseball diamonds on 99th and Silver Spring, for the kids it's called the Dog Pound. $40 Tickets. Free just to come to bar. Big Dogs Sports Grill

Make Men's Health Month About You

The month of November is (one of the) Men's Health Month(s), popularized by the Movember movement. (June is another recognized annual event but since it is November now, November it is.) It's a great foundation, it has been successful and is highly rated for its impact. But, one thing I see with the movement is that while they speak about men's health to the participants, I feel the participants themselves promote it outwardly rather than inward, at them. I personally fell victim to that selfsame issue, but no longer. As of this November, I am taking care of myself.
