At this point pretty much any remaining store is a locally owned shop (no the music section at your big box store doesn't count), so support Local , support Record Store Day , a day to celebrate independent record stores on Saturday April 19 2014. Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1000 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. There are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica - including our very own Milwaukee of course.

Anodyne's new cafe in Walker's Point put them at #12 of the 50 best in America We all know Milwaukee has a long and storied history of brewing beer, many time having had the worlds top breweries though the years though which one changed over the years. A recent resurgence of craft or micro-breweries has put us back on the map of beer dominance. In addition to the tradition of brewing beer, Milwaukee has become a fairly recent addition to a similar movement in coffee - what could be considered the craft or micro roasting equivalent of coffee to similar breweries. In Milwaukee names like Anodyne, Colectivo, Stone Creek and Valentines hold a similar place in the coffee world to what Big Bay, Lakefront, Milwaukee and Sprecher have for beer. And just as our local beer brewers have received national recognition, so too are our coffee roasters and their cafes . This fight can follow many usual ways form walks and rides to raffles and other standard fundraising fare. These are all tried and true methods and as is often sad, there's no reason to reinvent the wheel, however. One in 330 children will be diagnosed with some form of cancer by the time they are 20-years-old. Because treatment plans differ for each of the many forms of the disease, families often have to travel to seek the best care for their child. The costs associated with accommodations, hospitalizations, medication and therapies add up quickly and can be overwhelming for those already battling tough circumstances.
