Scentsory Kicks Off 10%Tuesday Giving With Gentleman's Ride

An example of what the rides and riders of the DGR
look like, classic personal style matched with their bikes.
It's uncommon for men to think too much about personal hygiene products. We go to the store, grab one of the major brands for things like anitperspirant, shaving, etc., but, just like with our general health, rarely do we think about what is in them that may impact our own health & well-being let alone others' or the environment. This is changing with more diversity of product types nearing a percentage of what is available to women - facial cleansers, skin care, and so on - and indeed there are some brands even at big box stores that embrace more natural care like Burt's Bees, Everyman Jack, and Schmidt's among others. With beards and styled facial hair being more popular, men are also embracing care of . One local shop, Scentsory Bath & Body Boutique in Cedarburg, is addressing the growing demand for personal hygiene products for men with handmade, natural products.

Scentsory is taking things a step further and adding in a charitable aspect to their business, kicking off a new program called Ten%Tuesday with donations to the Milwaukee Distinguished Gentleman's Ride during September 2018.

We've talked about the Gentleman's Ride before, as local ride captain of the global ride it is something I am passionate about combining loves of motorcycling, health & well-being, and classic style in one amazing event. This year, on Sunday September 30th 2018, over 120,000 distinguished gentlefolk in over 650 cities worldwide will don their cravats, tustle their ties, press their tweed, and sit astride their classic and vintage styled motorcycles to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and men's mental health. The DGR supports the Movember Foundation, a top tier global non-profit that supports prostate cancer and men's mental health.

Scentsory reached out to us wanting to get involved with the DGR, to help support men's wellness. The day of the ride they will be supporting us but in advance and through all of September they are helping raise funds for our ride as well with the launch of their Ten%Tuesdays where they will donate 10% of sales for the day to a cause, in this case the DGR. With products like Beard and Moustache Oil - scented with Frankincense, Coriander and Cedarwood essential oils - wax, scrubs, and the ability to custom scent your own Aftershave Toner, Scentsory has the products that the modern gentleman is looking for, plus they are local, handmade, and natural.

This weekend you can head out to the Cedarburg Wine & Harvest Festival and visit the Scentsory booth where they will be promoting the ride. While there, buy some product and help support a business supporting us and our health & well-being. Then join me and others on the ride on Sunday September 30.

City Lights Cans Water. Why its better than bottles.

You may have seen the new trend for packaged water with brands like Liquid Death. Now a local brewery, City Lights Brewery , is getting in on the act. Except its not just an act, its not some fad, there are reasons to can vs. bottle water. Good reasons.

Make Men's Health Month About You

The month of November is (one of the) Men's Health Month(s), popularized by the Movember movement. (June is another recognized annual event but since it is November now, November it is.) It's a great foundation, it has been successful and is highly rated for its impact. But, one thing I see with the movement is that while they speak about men's health to the participants, I feel the participants themselves promote it outwardly rather than inward, at them. I personally fell victim to that selfsame issue, but no longer. As of this November, I am taking care of myself.
